Communities in Action: Smoky Lake

Categories: Community engagement, Social connectedness, Community,

To kick off the gardening season, the Town of Smoky Lake recently hosted “Seedy Saturday”, where gardening advice and seeds were exchanged. Presentations included no-till gardening, flower and vegetable sowing, and Indigenous wisdom regarding sweetgrass. In partnership with the local farmers market and public library, this event provided opportunities for beginners to learn how to grow a garden while hearing from seasoned gardeners the tips and tricks that help to nurture these seasonal projects.
