Central Peace - Creating Community Connections
May 05, 2021
Central Peace identified the need to create a local space for sharing community events, information, and resources for the four surrounding rural municipalities. The Community Connect Newsletter was created to increase local collaboration and connectedness as well as increase awareness of health-related information on physical activity, healthy eating, mental wellbeing, cancer screening, and community program opportunities in the area.
The Plan
A simple one-page, double-sided newsletter provides key highlights for several communities in the area. The monthly newsletter is designed and developed by a volunteer editor in cooperation with the community. Submissions are emailed to the Central Peace Health and Wellness Coalition newsletter coordinator and reviewed by a newsletter committee. The newsletter is then emailed to a list of over 100 subscribers, posted on numerous social media sites, and hard copies are sent out with the Town of Spirit River water bills.
The Outcomes
The team has developed over 50 issues of Community Connect since its inception! Feedback from the community has been very positive. It is a great way to stay connected within the region and be informed about creating healthy communities.
