Community Stories:
Gift Lake Metis Settlement - Cancer Prevention and Screening
September 11, 2019
The Alberta Cancer Prevention Legacy Fund wants to share the work they are doing to bring cancer prevention and screening services to rural and remote communities, including many First Nation Reserves and 8 Métis Settlements.
The Plan
This video captures one of the Mobile Health Unit visits to Gift Lake. The Mobile Health Unit travels to isolated communities and helps reduce barriers to accessing important health information. Together, dedicated partners and community members are making positive impacts on health and wellness across the province. Residents of Gift Lake are working toward making the healthy choice the easy choice.
The Outcomes
Update: As of January 1, 2019, the mobile health unit is now called ‘Health on the Move’ and is being operated by the AHS North Zone.
