Great idea:
Many Alberta municipalities have passed bylaws to help reduce tobacco/ vaping use and to eliminate exposure to secondhand smoke.
Examples of bylaws:
- Tobacco sales licensing & enforcement to reduce youth access to tobacco
- Creating smoke-free parks & playgrounds to reduce youth exposure
- Prohibiting use of any smoking materials where cigarette smoking is banned (i.e. e-cigarettes)
- Banning smoking in hotel/motel guest rooms
- Banning smoking in social housing units & group living facilities
- Making all outdoor worksites smoke & vap free
Smoking Bylaw Example: City of Chestermere
